Language Exchange Event

Language Exchange Eventは、毎月2回、金曜日の19:15~20:45で行っております。「外国人の方が安心して集まることができるコミュニティを創りたい」という思いと共に活動を開始しました。現在は毎回外国人と日本人の方合わせて25人ほど来てくれ、楽しい時間を過ごしています。ゲームやフリートークを英語と日本語で行っているため、英語を話す機会を探している日本人の方や日常生活で役に立つ日本語を学びたい外国人の方にお勧めです！初回は無料で、2回目からは500円となります。留学生の方の場合は2回目から300円です。

Language Exchange Event is conducted from7:15 pm to 8:45 pm twice in a month on Friday . We started this activity with the feelng that "we want to make a community that foreighers can come with a ease". Currently, about 25 people including foreigners and Japanese come every time and we have so much fun. We talk and play games in English and Japanese and it's a nice oppotunity for foreigners who want to learn daily life Japanese and for Japanese looking for chances to speak English. The first time is for free. From the second time, we ask you to pay 500 yen each time. If you are an exchange student, we ask you to pay 300 yen each time.

いつもコンパスに行くと温かい笑顔と純粋に自分に会うことを喜んでいる人々に迎えられます。コンパスはまだ成長途中の団体であるため、新しい人の顔を見ることは当たり前であり、すべての人々が新しい人を受容することに幸せを感じています！地域の人々と会える場所が少なくなってきている中で、この団体と出会ってとてもたくさんの新しい友達つくれたことに感謝しています！

Every time I've been to 'Compass' I've been greeted by warm smiles and people genuinely happy to see me. It is a growing group, so seeing new faces is common and everyone is happy to accept them! Places to meet new locals are becoming less and less common, so I'm glad that I met this group and made so many new friends!

Compass has quickly become a little safe haven for the international community of Shizuoka.
We meet every week to talk, play games, and learn useful vocabulary and grammar for our daily lives.

コンパスに行くことは一週間のうちで最も楽しみにしていることです。そこへ行くときにはいつも新しいことを学ぶことができますし、他の人々が何かを学んでいる様子を見ることができます。それは素晴らしい気持ちです。さらに、コンパスに行くたくさんの新しい友達を作りましたし、自分自身ではできないような日本での活動を楽しむことができました。企画を催しているナギはとてもやさしい先生であり、すべての人々が楽しめるようにいつも一生懸命頑張っています。

Going to Compass is the highlight of my week. Every time I go I can learn something new or I can see other people learn something; it’s a wonderful feeling. I made many new friends going to Compass, and I could enjoy activities in Japan that I could not do on my own.
The organizer Nagi is a very kind teacher and always works hard to make sure everyone (both foreigners and Japanese) can have a good time.

私は子供の頃からずっと恥ずかしがり屋で、他の人と話すのは苦手でした。日本に来たばかりの私は誰とでも上手く話せず、困っていました。ある日、山内君からコンパスを紹介してもらいました。最初は緊張していましたが、毎週参加するたびに、緊張もなくなり、自分の気持ちを上手く話せるようになりました。その上、日本人だけでなく、いろんな国からの人たちと交流ができて、自分の考え方と視野も広がってきたように感じました。
I have been shy from my childhood and not good at talking with other people. When i just came to Japan, I couldn't talk with anybody and felt lonely. One day, Yamauchi introduced Compass to me. At first, I was nervous, but my perspective and sight became wider owing to the intaraction with people from many diffirent countries.

I thought it would be difficult to learn one language. But if you are brave enough to jump into it, your world will expand. I was able to experience that at Compass. I was able to enrich my heart.

Compass is a really great place to meet native speakers and actually practice your language skills. A lot of thought is always put into the activities, and Nagi is a great instructor! Plus, all of the participants are really nice and excited to learn and talk with each other!

Compass really reflects its meaning in my Japanese life. I feel it is a second home for me because of the friendly Management officials of Compass. The organization is not only to understand the Japanese language and life but also a place to know the world due to the participation of different country members. The events and games all are enjoyable. Compass is really directing the right way of life with meaningful activities. I wish the great success of Compass in every step of a long journey.
